Hi Everyone,
I’m trying to add links to websites, images and a video just to show you how easy it can be!
For Object Lessons, it’s a great idea to look for similar objects and images on respected museum websites, like the Victoria and Albert V & A Search the Collections Database or the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection, which has a lot of dress and fashion (it’s the home of the Costume Institute). But you can insert a link to any website (designer’s site, blog, etc.) to enhance your post. Don’t forget to include proper references and categorize your post as “OBJECT LESSONS” in the categories bar on the side of the Dashboard. And to reference when you quote about authors who might be discussing, say, the concept of object biographies (Kopytoff, 45) or embodiment, (Negrin, 126).
You might also want to insert images and photographs from the web, for example like this shot of best and worst dressed at the Oscars (please don’t talk about the Oscars though…)
And finally it’s a cinch to include video clips too but how do I put text after them… hmmm….
Future Fashions, 1939, Pathe film archives (give link to source)
It doesn’t seem to be super easy to write after film clips but with some tinkering I managed…
WORKS CITED
and you’ll need the bottom of the page to put in full references–like for me it would be…
Kopytoff, etc…
Negrin, etc…
Wow. What a great post Alison. What does future fashion have to do with searching historical museum collections and the Oscars though? You might want to think about x, y and z as well!
Thanks for commenting on my post, Alison! I might be developing a split personality if I keep going on this, so looking forward to actual input from other people!
